07-22-2005: Monarchs Summer Development Camp
Ah, summer hockey! The weather in Bako is hot enough to melt an ice rink in under 15 minutes so we brave Friday L.A. traffic
to see some former Condors, and at least one future Condor, play some hockey down in El Segundo at the Manchester Monarchs
Summer Development Camp. Connor James, Yutaka Fukufuji & Luis Tremblay are among the participants, as is recent Condors
signee Nate Metcalf. 29 players total make up the Camp roster. The two-week camp, held at the L.A. Kings training facility,
HealthSouth Center, culminated with an intrasquad game. All the former Condors and Metcalf are on the white team, which
skates away with a 3-2 win. Fukufuji played very well, showing no lingering effects from the injury that prematurely ended
his 04-05 season; James displayed the same speed and puck handling ability that made him a fan favorite in Condorstown;
Tremblay played solid "D" throughout the game; Metcalf was impressive as well, which bodes well for the upcoming Condors
season
