10-09-2005 Condors Open House

The days are cooler and shorter, the leaves are turning and the fields surrounding the city are abuzz with harvest. Autumn is here and no truer measure of this exists for hockey fans than the sounds of skates cutting across fresh ice for the first time. It's almost hockey season for Bako's Boys. To kick it off, the Bakersfield Ice Sports Center hosts the annual Open House for the second year in a row. It's the first chance for Bako's hockey faithful to meet the team. As last year, folks get to skate with the new Condors and then watch an intrasquad game.

The operative word this season is SIZE. This is a physically larger team than last season's 90-point playoff squad. But there is no appreciable dropoff in skill. From all accounts, these guys can bring it. Hopefully they will bring Bakersfield another playoff- worthy season and something no previous Condors club has: a post-season series victory and a championship.
