11-26-2005 vs. Fresno Falcons

The Bakersfield Condors take to Rabobank Arena ice to face their Highway 99 rivals, the Fresno Falcons. The last time these clubs hooked up, it was a blowout for the Falcons, who won going away 6-2 at Save Mart Center, exposing a porous Condor defense and shaky goaltending in the process. Since then, changes have been made to the Condors roster. One of those changes arrived less than 24 hours before faceoff, forward Joel Irving. He would prove instrumental tonight as the Condors rushed out to a three-goal lead, gave it all back and then pulled out a 4-3 victory in the shootout. Irving would score the only goal in the shootout and Ryan Munce continued to show he can be the #1 guy in net for Marty Raymond's squad. Munce stopped all five Fresno shooters.

Tonight was the sixth annual Teddy Bear Toss. Fans were able to throw stuffed animals onto the ice when the Condors scored thier first goal. All animals collected will be donated to the United Way of Kern County who will then give them to less fortunate children through the Holidays.

The Fur Flies!

The Fur flew at 14:19 of the first period as Nate Metcalf netted the first Condors goal of the night. The cascade of cuddlies and the ensuing clean-up took nearly 15 minutes. A phalanx of folks, young and old were assisted in the gathering of stuffed animals by several of the Condors players and the Condors Ice Angels. Bako was looking to top last year's record total of 7,149 stuffed animals donated.
